Ice Cream For Breakfast? Ben & Jerry’s Unveils Three Cereal-Inspired Flavors

Here’s a brain teaser: if people hate when milk makes their cereal soggy, how are they going to feel about ice cream with cereal in it? And another puzzle to consider: should cereal-flavored ice cream be a morning treat, or does it count as “breakfast for dessert?”

These are the burning questions people have to answer now that ice cream giant Ben & Jerry’s have unveiled three new breakfast-inspired ice cream flavors.

The new creations, called Cereal Splashbacks, are each based off a popular breakfast cereal and designed to give you tasty, nostalgic feelings.

Ben & Jerry’s

Eric Fredette, the company’s “Flavor Guru,” says his biggest inspiration was the flavor of sugary milk at the bottom of the cereal bowl. He hopes that the new flavors will make people feel “like a kid again.”

The new flavors are called Fruit Loot, Frozen Flakes and Cocoa Loco.

Fruit Loot will remind you of either Fruity Pebbles or Fruit Loops, depending on which you grew up eating.

Frozen Flakes have the great, sugary flavor of Frosted Flakes and Cocoa Loco is a cross between Cocoa Puffs and ice cream.

We’re guessing some people will be grossed out by this combination of crunchy food and ice cream, but just as many people will be dying to try these tasty creations.

If you want to get a cone of Cocoa Loco, you’ll have to make your way to your nearest Ben & Jerry’s, since these flavors won’t be available in grocery stores.

Tiny Art Pieces Are “Sweet” In More Ways Than One!

The most frustrating part of baking is getting the small details right. Mixing everything together and following the recipe isn’t so hard, but getting the powdered sugar on the top exactly right can be so frustrating.

That’s why these pictures by Italian baker Mateo Stucchi are so impressive. He takes his bakery creations and uses them to tell stories with the help of tiny figurines.

While the scenes he comes up with are interesting, the best part of Stucchi’s art are the perfect details on his pastries and how they inspire the picture. Look through this list of some of his best creations and decide which looks the tastiest.

And if you want to see his latest creations, follow him on Instagram at idolcidigulliver.

If these creations inspire you to treat yourself to some chocolate, go ahead and indulge!

After all, dealing with your stress will make up for the extra calories. Just don’t feel like you have to live up to Stucchi’s examples, because that would be pretty tough!

Make Rainbow Grapes with the Kids Bring Some Fun to Snacktime!

Print Recipe

Spring and summer are coming up, which means it’s time to start pulling out fun snacks for the kids to enjoy in the sunny weather! Rainbow Grapes are exciting and easy to make, and can be made in all the colors of the rainbow!

All you need for this simple snack are some grapes, jello packages in any colors you like, and toothpicks! Give ‘em a roll, chill and get munching!

Ingredients:

  • 3 pounds seedless grapes
  • 100-150 toothpicks
  • Large bowl of water
  • Flavored Jello, in the flavors/colors of your choice

Directions:

  1. Start by submerging your grapes in the bowl of water. Put a toothpick halfway into a grape, at the top where the stem was once attached. Repeat this for a layer of grapes until you have a good portion ready to go. Make sure that your grapes, themselves, are still primarily underwater.
  2. Pour each flavor of gelatin mix into its own container – deeper containers will be easier to work with than shallow ones. Removing one grape at a time, roll the grape in the gelatin mixture of choice. If the coating is light or spotty quickly dab one side of the grape into the water bowl and return it back to the mix for a second turn.
  3. As you dip and coat your grapes place them in a parchment lined cookie sheet to rest. Once your sheet is full, or all grapes have been dipped place the tray in the fridge (or the freezer, if desired) until chilled. This serve best cold, when the coating has hardened and creates a fun “shell” texture. Once they have chilled they can be popped off of the toothpicks and served as is.
  4. Note: Some gelatin mixes will be white when they are initially poured, and only show their true color once wet/dipped. Colored mixes tend to yield a more vibrant color. Regardless, the color of your grapes will darken as they chill and set.

New York’s Hottest Cafe Serves Goodies Inspired By Kellogg’s Breakfast Foods

You may not realize, but Kellogg’s – the company behind your favorite breakfast cereals including Fruit Loops, Frosted Flakes and Eggo waffles – has their own restaurant in New York City.

The Kellogg’s Cafe, which opened in Manhattan last year, serves upscale versions of the brand’s cereals, along with other treats like hot chocolate and birthday cake doughnuts.

Now, the cafe is introducing a line of new creations that look absolutely delicious, including a portable s’more and doughnuts made of cereal.

Kellogg’s NYC

The new products are thanks to the cafe’s successful Pop Tart Cafe event last month, where some of them debuted. The restaurant’s menu of fancy cereal was never very popular, but they’re hoping these eye-popping new twists on breakfast food will be.

To celebrate their new direction the cafe is featuring some meals inspired by New York, including a Frankenstein monster of food that they call the #Coffeedoughnutshotdog.

Kellogg’s NYC

It combines a “sausage” made from cocoa Rice Krispies, a coffee-flavored doughnut bun, yellow vanilla icing “mustard” and green gummy bears for “relish.” Perfect for breakfast, lunch, dinner or dessert.

Kellogg’s NYC

Another new menu item had crowds lining up outside the store to try it when it was introduced last month. The Dem Cookies, Dough milkshake mixes a regular chocolate milkshake with cookie dough, vanilla ice cream and whipped cream until it’s almost overflowing.

If you want to sample these yourself don’t wait, you only have until April 12, when a new line of special menu items will be introduced.

I’m booking my plane ticket now to try that milkshake!
